I Used to Know
Tune: Back in the Highlife Again (Steve Winwood)
I used to know a place,
That was filled with so much love.
And when I close my eyes and dream,
I can see the stars above.
As my mind wanders to the past,
And I think of my summer home.
I’m reminded of times I spent there,
Up until the time I was grown.
Tapawingo you couldn’t have known,
Just how much you mean to me,
And how you helped me grow.
Through the blue and the gray I have learned,
Friendships last much longer than,
Any honor I could earn.
Pine trees in the wind.
Sparkling lake under the sun.
Sounds of laughter and singing,
Girls uniting as one.
Of this special place I’ve taken,
All the lessons taught so well.
Traditions stay within me,
And from them I now can tell.
Tapawingo you couldn’t have known,
Just how much you mean to me,
And how you helped me grow.
Through the blue and the gray I have learned,
Friendships last much longer than,
And honor I could earn.
And I ran through my days of youth so fast,
I never thought the time would pass,
But in my mind it will always last.
Dreaming of Tapawingo.
